Hand Crafted Furniture

As a rancher and land owner, I have a deep appreciation and respect for natural resources, whether it's managing pastures to produce nutrient-rich grazing and hay for my cattle or harvesting wood from dead trees to build beautiful home furnishings.  It is truly sweet to open up a tree that, by outward appearances, looks like it should be thrown on the burn pile and find instead a unique and vibrant plank of wood ready to be put to use.

The Wood

My wood of choice is red cedar from East Texas.   The color contrast between the heart wood and sap wood along with the infinite variation in grain patterns and branch formation really holds your interest and makes each piece truly one of a kind.  The majority of the cedar I use is off of my own ranch and I literally work the wood from tree to finished product.

The design

Sweet T Woodworks designs are both sleek and rustic, equally at home as a signature look or as an individual statement piece.  Borrowing again from my ranch experience with welding fences and corrals, I've paired the natural beauty of the wood with simple yet striking metal work. 

Lighting

Starting with raw material, I want to realize the full potential of each piece of wood.  Many times when cutting a shelf or table to length, the dropped end is still full of character and can be put to good use as a lamp base or wall sconce.  I look for the same opportunities to repurpose other items around the ranch.  When we replaced our wooden bridge with pipe, the side rails proved just right for beam lighting fixtures.
